In order to get more people interested and hooked on “Craft Beer” Craft Brewers are now making beers with lower Abv%. The idea is that if Craft Breweries make a more sessionable beer they can introduce it to consumers who are not used to the traditionally strong craft beers. In 2010 craft beer dollars were up 12% while the industry was down about 1%.
Is this a good thing or bad thing? I personally think that having a more sessionable craft beer would be great. I enjoy craft beers but when I am in the mood to drink a few more than normal, say out on the golf course or at a barbecue, I don’t want to be knocked on my butt by two beers. It might be nice to have a delicious craft beer that is of moderate Abv%.Â
